The climate of Bangassou (Central African Republic)
Bangassou is located in the most southern tip of the Central African
Republic in the vicinity of the border with the Democratic Republic of
Congo on the banks of the Mbomou River. The city is located in the
Mbomou prefecture of which it also is the capital. The city is also
home to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bangassou. The Saint Pierre
Claver cathedral can be found in the city, this is the largest
cathedral in the region. The Mbomou River can be crossed by ferry
which makes Bangassou an important border crossing. Bangassou has a
tropical savannah climate with one distinct rainy period. The rainy
period is from March till the second part of November. During the
rainy period humidity figures are fairly high. Temperatures are around
30 degrees Celsius all year round.
