The climate of Qingdao (China)
Qingdao is a port situated on the Yellow Sea in the province of
Shandong. Several events of the 2008 Olympic Games were held here. One
of the spin-offs was the modernization of this city. Because Qingdao
used to be a German colony several buildings still retain examples of
German architecture. The cuisine is a reflection of its location on
the sea and mainly consists of “fruits de mer” (seafood platter) and
fish. Weather-wise Qingdao is situated in a transitional area between
a warm and a moderate China climate. Winters are cold, windy and dry.
During the winter temperatures are just below freezing point on
average. Summers are warm and wet. Because of the presence of the sea
extremely high temperatures are uncommon.
