The climate of Camargue (France)
The Camarque is a reserve situated at the mouth of the river Rhône on
the Mediterranean coast. The park is situated exactly between two
branches of the river Rhône and thus makes, as it were, an island
within the river. The Camarque is mainly known for its splendid
natural beauty. Horses , bulls and flamingos live here wild. The
marshland of the Camarque provides a first-class habitat to many birds
and special species of plants. The area is protected against the sea
by means of a 20 km. long dike. The area is well navigable and through
that also very popular with boat votaries. Many historic little
harbours provide an atmospheric whole. The town of Arles on the banks
of the river Rhône in the Camarque is also certainly worth visiting.
This town, of course known for van Gogh, has many historic sights and
in the summer a lively and cozy centre. Because of the situation of
the Camarque and the town of Arles at the Mediterranean the climate
there is very mild and gentle. The summers are lovely and warm with a
cooling breeze from the sea. The winters are mild.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
