The climate of Kerewan (Gambia)
Kerewan is located in the northwestern part of Gambia and is the
capital of the North Bank Region. This region is divided into six
districts; all of them under the administration of Kerewan. Kerewan
has a tropical savannah climate. Although Kerewan islocated further
inland it is situated in a transitional climate zone which is a sort
of cross between the climate that can be found in the interior and the
climate of the coastal regions. This means the hottest periods are not
as hot here as further inland and cold days are slightly warmer here
than on the coast. The rainy period is from the second part of June
till the second part of October and may cause inconvenience. The
climate of Kerewan is influenced by the north easterly trade wind and
the Harmattan. The rainy period is locally known as the Nawet.
