The climate of Kotu Beach (Gambia)
Kotu Beach or Kotu Point is located in the western part of Gambia on
the Atlantic coast. Kotu is a small but increasingly popular tourist
resort. Kotu’s popularity is rising because it is situated in the
vicinity of a mangrove forest with a unique bird population and
because of the wide beaches with palm trees. Between the palm trees
and the wide beaches small lagoons have formed giving you the idea you
have your own private beach. The nightlife here is not spectacular.
However, there are several bars and restaurants in the vicinity of the
hotels.
Kuto has a tropical savannah climate with a distinct rainy period.
This period is from the second part of May till the second part of
October with August as the wettest month. During the rest of the year
it is pleasantly warm here with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees
Celsius every now and then. However, this doesn’t happen often because
of the tempering effect of the northeasterly trade wind. In general
days are sunny during this period. During the evening a dry and cold
breeze blows in Kuto.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
