The climate of Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Germany)
Rothenburg ob der Tauberis small city located centrally in the
southern part of Germany in the federal state of Bavaria on the
border with the federal state of Baden Wurttemberg. The city is
known for the Romantische Strasse which is a route from Wurzburg to
Fussen. Rothenburg ob der Tauber was partially destroyed during
WWII. Fortunately, the historic center was spared during the
bombing. Because of this you can still admire the beautiful medieval
center. The city is among the 20 most popular tourist destinations
in Germany. Despite its location in the interior Rothenburg ob der
Tauber has a moderate maritime climate. However, when an easterly
wind blows the climate has more characteristics of a continental
climate. Winters are much colder here than in the more westerly
located cities in Germany. During the winter longer periods with
subzero temperatures (during the night) are not uncommon. During the
summer average daytime temperatures are just above 20 degrees
Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit).

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
