The climate of Mumbai (India)
Mumbai, also known by the name of Bombay, is an extremely busy and
vibrant metropolis. It is a town of extremes with, on the one hand the
glitter and glamour of Bollywood and on the other hand the many poor,
living here in the slums under miserable circumstances. There are new
modern buildings side by side with splendid remainders from colonial
times. The vibrant nightlife on the one hand and the Hinduism and the
Islam on the other hand. Mumbai, or Bombay, is a town full of enormous
contradictions. All this makes it into a very special destination in
India, visited by many tourists.
Mumbai has a tropical monsoon climate. In this climate the air
humidity is very high. Together with the airpollution from the town
this can cause a very damp and sultry feeling. The rainfall in Mumbai
is particularly concentrated to the months of June up to and including
September. In the months of December and January the temperature is
somewhat lower and the weather is more suitable for a visit. However
the temperature seldom drops below 18 degrees centigrade. From March
it gets much warmer again.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
