The climate of Cork (Ireland)
Cork is located in the southern part of Ireland and has one of the
largest natural harbours in the world. Cork used to be known for its
rebellious character and was described as “Rebel Cork”.
Cork’s climate is strongly influenced by the Gulf Stream and a south
western wind. This is why Ireland has mild winters in which subzero
temperatures are uncommon. However, summers are not too warm. Climate
is comparable to Belgium’s and Holland’s climate. Cork can be visited
the whole year round. Chances of sunshine are highest from May to
October. Rain falls the whole year around. During the autumn and
winter Ireland is wetter than in other seasons.
