The climate of Rome (Italy)
Rome is the capital of Italy and was the capital of the former Roman
Empire. The mini-state of Vatican City is located within Rome. Vatican
City is the seat of the Catholic Church. Rome has too many monuments
and historic sites to mention. Because of its important role in the
Roman Empire, Christianity and the Renaissance Rome has many
historical sites. If you want to see all of them you need a lot of
time. Almost on every corner and square you can admire historical
buildings. Among the most famous are: Saint Peter’s Basilica with the
Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, Trevi fountain, the castle of Angels
and the Spanish steps.
Renting a car in Rome gives you complete freedom in
transportation. It allows you to explore attractions anywhere in and
around Rome without the difficulties of public transport.
The best time to visit Rome is during spring or
fall. During the summer it may be too hot and smoggy which may cause
inconvenience, especially for those with respiratory problems. Because
of the Mediterranean climate the weather is pleasant enough during
spring and fall for a city trip. Really cold temperatures during
winter are uncommon.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
