The climate of Yokohama (Japan)
Yokohama is located west of Tokyo and is the second largest city in
Japan. With 3 million inhabitants Yokohama is a true metropolis. Since
the 19th century the city opened up for trade with the rest of the
world which caused this port to flourish. Yokohama is still very
popular with expats. Several museums, a China town, a zoo and
typically Japanese temples and gardens can be found here. The pier,
the shore and the city park are ideal for strolling.
Yokohama has a moderate sea climate. Fairly dry winters are being
alternated with warm and wet summers. During late summer and autumn
the risk of heavy rains and fierce winds rapidly increases. During
this period there also is a risk of typhoons.
