The climate of Samburu National Reserve (Kenya)
Samburu National Reserve is situated in the southeastern part of Kenya
in the vicinity of Mombassa. A visit to Samburu National Reserve is
often combined with a safari in the Buffalo Springs National Park.
Large herds of elephants live in the park together with giraffes,
water buffalos, zebras, lions, leopards and cheetahs. The Ewaso Nyiro
River is the life blood of this region. The reserve was named after
the Samburu people who live here with their livestock. More than 300
bird species live in this area.
Samburu National Park has a tropical
monsoon climate with two distinct rainy periods. Summers are
practically dry. Temperatures are around 30 degrees on average. These
high temperatures in combination with high precipitation figures may
cause high humidity figures.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
