The climate of Mellieha Bay (Malta)
Mellieha Bay is situated on the north eastern tip of the island of
Malta and has a Mediterranean climate. Malta’s climate is
characterized by dry and warm summers and mild and wet winters. During
the winter months fierce bleak winds blow frequently. During the
summer months the wind abates and precipitation is scarce. Visitors to
Malta describe its climate during the summer as dry, warm and arid.
During the period from June till September temperatures are still high
during the evening. Only after midnight do temperatures drop below 25
degrees Celsius. During the summer a sirocco may rise. This is a
desert wind that brings warm air to Malta and is responsible for
unpleasantly high temperatures. This current may last for days.
Whoever travels to Malta in the period from May to September is
assured of many hours of sunshine. It’s hardly ever cloudy and
precipitation is scarce during the summer.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
