The climate of Mawlamyine (Myanmar)
Mawlamyine is located in the southern part of Myanmar on the banks of
the Salween River. During British rule this was a busy port. Nowadays
it is a peaceful town. Many buildings and historical monuments remain
from the colonial era. Beautiful old warehouses in colonial
architecture and beautiful mosques for the Indian workers who settled
here. On the rock formation which towers over the city Buddhist
temples were built. It is said that these temples were the inspiration
for the poems of the British writer Rudyard Kipling. Mawlamyine has a
tropical monsoon climate. The tropical monsoon climate has a wet
period, a summer and a dry period during the winter. Temperatures are
high here all year round and hardly ever drop below 18 degrees Celsius
(64.4 degrees Fahrenheit). Because of its situation on the sea average
humidity figures are lower here than in the interior.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
