The climate of Melekeok (Palau)
Melekeok is the official capital of the Republic of Palau; it is the
smallest capital in the world. According to the census of 2005
Melekeok has a population of 271. The governmental buildings can be
found in the neighboring city Ngerulmud. Melekeok is situated in the
state of Melekeok, within this state several other places and villages
can be found. Lake Ngardok can also be found in this state, the
largest fresh water lake in Micronesia. Melekeok has a tropical
rainforest climate with high humidity figures all year round. Rainfall
is heavy but short lived. Daytime temperatures are just above 30
degrees Celsius on average. Night time temperatures are 23-24 degrees
Celsius. During the second part of the year there is a risk of
tropical storms and hurricanes.
