The climate of Kavieng (Papua New Guinea)
Kavieng is the largest place on the island of New Ireland which is
part of the Bismarck archipelago, Papua New Guinea. Kavieng is located
in the most northern part of the island on the Balgai Bay. Kavieng is
very popular among divers because several shipwrecks from WWII can be
found off the coast. It is said that several plane wrecks can be found
here as well. Besides the resorts and hotels Kavieng has a golf
course. Kavieng has a tropical rainforest climate with high
precipitation figures all year round. Kavieng gets more than 3,000
millimeters of annual precipitation on average. Temperatures are
around 30 degrees Celsius all year round. However, an ever blowing sea
wind offers some cooling during the warmest part of the day. The
temperature of the sea is very pleasant all year round.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
