The climate of Mount Hagen (Papua New Guinea)
Mount Hagen is one of the largest cities in Papua New Guinea. Mount
Hagen is the capital of the province of Western Highlands, centrally
situated at an altitude of 1,677 meters. The city was named after the
volcano Mount Hagen which is in the vicinity. The city is known for
its Mount Hagen cultural show. During this sing-sing several richly
decorated tribes from all over Papua New Guinea come here to dance a
fraternization dance. Mount Hagen has a tropical rainforest climate
with longer periods with heavy rain. This type of climate has no
distinct seasons. Precipitation figures are high all year round and so
are temperatures. High temperatures in combination with high
precipitation figures cause humidity figures to be high as well which
may make things feel very muggy.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
