The climate of Cusco (Peru)
Cusco is located in the south eastern part of Peru in the Andes. The
city used to be the capital of the Inca empire and was a flourishing
center of this culture till the 16th century. The Spanish took over
the reign and from the 16th century the building styles of both
cultures mixed. Sometimes foundations built by the Inca’s were used
for Spanish buildings. The remains of this history can still be
admired in Cusco. Because Cusco is situated at a high altitude the
city has a moderate China climate. This climate type has many
characteristics of a tropical climate. However, because of the high
altitude temperatures are much lower. High precipitation figures can
be recorded all year round. During the warm summer temperatures remain
below 22 degrees Celsius. During the winter temperatures may slightly
drop below freezing point.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
