The climate of Iquitos (Peru)
Iquitos is located on the banks of the Amazon River and is the largest
city in the tropical rainforest of Peru. The city can only be reached
by plane or boat. Many tourists use this city as a starting point for
an expedition into the rainforest. Besides tourism the main source of
income is forestry, logging and the processing of trees. Iquitos has a
tropical rainforest climate with constantly warm temperatures above 22
degrees Celsius on average all year round. Only during heavy rainfall
temperatures may slightly drop. Rain falls all year round on a regular
basis. Because of the combination of high temperatures and high
precipitation figures humidity figures are high as well.
