The climate of San Pedro de Tacna (Peru)
San Pedro de Tacna is located in the most southern tip of Peru. The
city plays an important commercial role in Peru. Parts of the city are
situated in a free trading zone. San Pedro de Tacna has a large
Italian community. These immigrants settled here in the 19th century
and form an important part of the population. In the vicinity of the
city important archeological discoveries have been made. The caves
where the oldest human remains of Peru have been found are still an
important tourist attraction. San Pedro de Tacna has a cold desert
climate. This region has very low precipitation figures and often
clear skies. Temperatures are very low on average.
