The climate of Volgograd (Russia)
Volgograd or Wolvograd is located in the most south-westerly part of
Russia on the Volga River. Volgograd is better known as Stalingrad,
named after the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. Stalingrad played an
important role during WWII. The battle of Stalingrad was the turning
point in the war. Volgograd has a steppe climate with little
precipitation, most of which falls during the summer. Volgograd has
distinct seasons. Differences in temperature between summer and winter
are very large. Summers are hot and wet; winters are cold and very
dry. However, during the winter light snowfall is not uncommon.
