The climate of Rwanda
Republic of Rwanda is a country in Central Africa. With a surface area
of more than 26,000 square kilometers it is the smallest country in
the region. The neighboring country of Burundi is just a little bit
bigger than Rwanda. The entire country is situated at a high altitude.
The lowest point of the country is the Rusizi River which is at an
altitude of 950 meters above sea level. Rwanda has a tropical climate
with low temperatures by tropical standards, this is because of the
altitude at which the country is situated. During the day temperatures
are between 20-27 degrees Celsius (68.0-80.6 degrees Fahrenheit).
During the night temperatures are between 10-14 degrees Celsius
(50-57.2 degrees Fahrenheit).

More climate information
Climate tables are useful but they don’t give an overall picture of
the climate and possible weather conditions during a period of time.
How high the chances are of hot or cold weather or hurricanes can
often not be found in these tables. This is why we offer extra climate
information per month. The figures below are for the capital Kigali.
For climate figures on specific regions and places please, visit the
relevant individual climate pages.
