The climate of Sandton (South Africa)
Sandton is a suburb of the metropolis of Johannesburg. It is located
in the Gauteng province. Mainly businessmen and western tourists come
here to find a temporary sleeping place in one of the luxurious
hotels.
Sandton has dry winters with spring-like temperatures on average.
Summers are warm with a fair chance of precipitation. Especially the
months of November, December and January can be grey and wet. Sandton
has a moderate savannah climate. This is mainly because the city is at
an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. Temperatures are lower
because of this. During July and August subzero temperatures are not
uncommon during the night, especially in unprotected areas.
