The climate of Burgos (Spain)
Burgos is a large city located in the northwestern part of Spain in
the autonomous region of Castile en León. Burgos is located in the
banks of the Arlanzón River which flows through the entire Burgos
province. The city is quite young by Spanish standards and was founded
in the middle ages. During the Spanish civil war Franco’s government
had its seat here. One of the most beautiful buildings is the Santa
Maria cathedral which is a Unesco world heritage site. The Provincial
Archeological museum can be found here as well. Burgos has a maritime
climate with Mediterranean characteristics. The climate of Burgos is
strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and to a lesser degree by
the Mediterranean Sea. During the summer daytime temperatures are
around 30 degrees Celsius (86.0 degrees Fahrenheit) on average.
Winters are cold; longer periods with subzero temperatures (during the
night) are not uncommon. Average precipitation figures are low and
evenly spread out over the year.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
