The climate of Cáceres (Spain)
Cáceres is a city located in the Cáceres province in the Extremadura
region in the western part of Spain in the vicinity of the border with
Portugal. It is an old city which was founded by the Romans in the 1st
century BC. In the centuries after this the city was under the rule of
both the Moors and Christians. The old city center is a Unesco
preservation site. In the old center several remains dating back to
Roman times can be found such as a cathedral from the 12th century. A
large part of the city walls including several towers have been well
preserved. Despite its location in the interior Cáceres has a maritime
climate slightly influenced by both the Atlantic Ocean and the
Mediterranean Sea. However, these influences are smaller than in the
coastal regions. This also means extremes in weather are higher in
Cáceres than in other parts of Spain. Summers are warm with average
temperatures just below 35 degrees Celsius (95.0 degrees Fahrenheit).
During the winter temperatures may be low during the evening; subzero
temperatures during the night are not uncommon. Average precipitation
figures are low all year round and during the summer quantities of
rain are negligible.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
