The climate of Cangas de Onís (Spain)
Cangas de Onís is a small village and a municipality located in the
northwestern part of Spain in the Asturias region. It is an old
village which was already inhabited during Roman times. In the 8th
century AD the city was the capital of the Asturias Kingdom for
several years. One of the oldest Catholic churches in Spain, the Santa
Cruz de Cangas de Onís dates back to this period. One of the best
known structures in the village is the Roman bridge. Cangas de Onís is
located in the vicinity of Picos de Europa which is part of the
Cantabrian mountain range. Cangas de Onís has a moderate maritime
climate strongly influenced by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of
Biscay. Because of these influences extremes in weather are uncommon
in this region. Only in the vicinity of Picos de Europa very high or
very low temperatures may occur. Most precipitation falls during the
winter, summers are fairly dry.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
