The climate of Elche (Spain)
Elche is an old city located in the southeastern part of Spain in the
vicinity of the city of Alicante. The Mediterranean Sea is only a few
kilometers away. The city is known for its Palmeral of Elche. This is
the largest palm tree plantation in Europe and is among the largest in
the world. This plantation was created by the Romans in the 5th
century BC. Nowadays about 100,000 trees can be found in the
plantation, during the 19th century this was about double the amount.
Just outside Elche an important archeological excavation site can be
found. Many finds can be admired in the Museo Arqueológico y de
Historia de Elche. Elche has a moderate Mediterranean climate strongly
influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Summers are warm to hot with
average daytime temperatures just above 30 degrees Celsius (86.0
degrees Fahrenheit). Elche has extremely low precipitation figures; most
rain falls during fall. Because Elche is located in the interior there
is no cooling sea breeze here which is the case in the city of
Alicante.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
