The climate of San Sebastián (Spain)
San Sebastian is a city located on the Gulf of Biscay in the Spanish
autonomous region of the Basque Country. The city is officially known
as Donastia San Sebastian. San Sebastian is the capital of the
Gipuzkoa province which borders France. The Bay of La Concha along
with a beautiful beach can be found near the city. The city is best
known for the annual cycling race ‘Clasica San Sebastian’. This race
is held in August. San Sebastian has a moderate maritime climate
strongly influenced by both the Gulf is Biscay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Because of these influences temperatures are slightly lower here than
in the coastal towns along the Mediterranean Sea. However, real cold
is uncommon here and subzero temperatures are very rare. Precipitation
figures are low in San Sebastian, especially summers are very dry.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
