The climate of Valencia (Spain)
Valencia is one of the largest cities in Spain. Only the cities of
Barcelona and Madrid are bigger. The city is located on the east coast
of Spain on the Costa del Azahar. The city was founded by the Romans
about 100 years BC. Valencia is one of the most important trading
cities in Spain, mainly because of its situation on the Turia River.
Valencia is also seen as the birthplace of paella. The most beautiful
building in the city is the Ciutat de les Arts y les Ciènces. This
cultural scientific complex consists of an opera building, a
planetarium a laserium, a science museum, a promenade with a botanical
garden and an oceanographic park in the open air. Several popular city
beaches can be found here as well. Valencia has a typical
Mediterranean climate influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. As a result
of heavy rainfall in the interior the Turia River may cause flooding
in Valencia. This mainly happens during fall. If you like a sun, sea
and beach holiday in combination with a city trip Valencia is a very
suitable destination.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
