The climate of Scarborough (Trinidad and Tobago)
Scarborough is located in the southwestern part of Tobago of which it
also is the capital. The city was founded by the Dutch in the second
part of the 17th century and was named ‘Nieuw Vlissingen’. Scarborough
is the largest city on the island with a population of about 17,000.
The Historic Museum which can be found in the city gives a good
impression of the history of Tobago. The only airport of the island,
Crown Port, is situated near the city. Scarborough is a popular
stop-over for large cruise ships. Just like the rest of the island
Scarborough has a tropical monsoon climate with a distinct wet and a
distinct dry period. Because of the southwesterly location of the city
Scarborough gets more rain than other places on the island. During the
second part of the year there is a risk of tropical storms and
hurricanes. During this period humidity figures are higher as well.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
