The climate of Ohio (United States of America)
The state of Ohio is located in the northeastern part of the United States. Ohio is located west from the Appalachians and has a hilly landscape in the south. The further you travel north the flatter the landscape gets. Many plains and lakes can be found in Ohio. Ohio has a warm continental climate (type Dfa according to the Köppen climate classification). Summers are warm and erratic. During one week it may be rainy with temperatures hardly rising above 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) while the next week the sun may shine exuberantly with temperatures reaching tropical values. The contrast between the seasons is fairly big. Winters may be very cold. Especially in January and February subzero temperatures during the night are not uncommon. In the northern part of Ohio which is located along the south coast of Lake Erie snowstorms are not uncommon during the winter. These storms may cause a lot of inconvenience. Although Ohio is not located in Tornado Alley twisters may occur. The highest chance of this phenomenon occurring is during spring and fall.
