The climate of Breskens (the Netherlands)
Breskens is located in the north eastern part of Dutch Flanders in the province of Zeeland in the Sluis municipality. Breskens is connected to the island of Walcheren by a foot and cycle ferry from Vlissingen to Breskens. Breskens is situated where the Westerschelde flows into the North Sea. Fishery has always been the main source of income. However, since the 1970s Breskens attracts many more tourists and the village has become a popular seaside resort. In the vicinity of the village several holiday parks can be found. Breskens has a moderate maritime climate influenced by the warm Gulf Stream and the North Sea. During the summer temperatures are just above 20 degrees Celsius on average. However, a sea wind may cause things to feel a bit colder. This wind also causes rain to move further into the interior.
