The climate of Little Rock (Arkansas
- United States of America)
Little Rock is the capital of Arkansas. The city was named after a
rock that rises out of the Mississippi River. Little Rock is centrally
located in Arkansas at an altitude of 100 meters above sea level.
Little Rock has a warm maritime climate with warm and wet summers a
slightly drier fall with a higher chance of heavy rainfall, mild
winters and a short spring. During spring large differences in
temperatures within 24 hours are not uncommon. Precipitation is quite
evenly spread out over the year. In general July and August are the
driest months of the year. During spring and late fall there is a
small peak in precipitation figures. During the winter snowfall is not
uncommon. On average Little Rock gets 2 days with snowfall per year.
During these days about 10 centimeters (4 inches) of snow falls.
However, it may not snow for years while during other years much more
snow falls.
