The climate of Champaign (Illinois

Champaign is a medium sized city located in the central western part
of Illinois. The city is twinned with adjacent Urbana. Champaign was
founded during the second part of the 19th century when a railway
station was constructed here. Nowadays the city is a real student
city, the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign is the biggest
employer of the city. Champaign has its own airport: Willard Airport.
Champaign has a warm continental climate with warm summers and cold
winters. During the coldest months temperatures hardly rise above
freezing point. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year
with a small peak during early summer. On average precipitation
figures are slightly higher here than in other cities in Illinois.
There is a risk of tornadoes.
