The climate of Kisumu (Kenya)
Kisumu is a large city located in the southwestern part of Kenya in
the province of Nyanza on Lake Victoria. Kisumu is situated on the
Uganda railway. The city has always been an important trading post;
cotton, fish and sugar are mainly traded here. The most popular
attractions in the city are the Kisumu museum and the Kit-Mikayi rock
formations. Just outside the city an Impala reserve is situated, large
numbers of Impalas live here, every now and then a hippo is spotted.
Kisumu has a tropical rainforest climate with high precipitation
figures all year round. There are two distinct rainy periods. However,
during the period in between reasonable amounts of precipitation fall
as well. Daytime temperatures are 30 degrees on average. Night time
temperatures are much lower, 15 degrees Celsius on average. The
climate of Kisumu benefits from Lake Victoria.
