The climate of Trondheim (Norway)
Trondheim is located at the mouth of the Nidelva River and the
Trondheim Fjords in the narrow and less densely populated part of
Norway. The city is very old and was founded during early medieval
times. Although large parts of the city were destroyed over the
centuries many authentic wooden buildings have been well preserved.
The Archbishop’s Palace and several beautiful old churches can be
found here. Characteristic colored wooden houses can also be found in
several parts of the city. Trondheim is a lively city. Because many
students live here there is always something to do.
Trondheim has a maritime climate. Because the city is situated on the
leeward side winds cannot blow freely here. However, Trondheim does
have high precipitation figures. Heavy rainfall can be expected all
year round. Especially September and October are very wet. Spring is
the driest season. Because of the influence of the sea there are only
few differences in temperatures. Extremes in weather are uncommon both
during winter and summer. During the winter temperatures only drop a
few degrees below freezing point. During the summer temperatures are
18 degrees Celsius on average.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
