The climate of Dundee (Scotland)
Dundee is located on Scotland’s east coast on the river Tay. Dundee is
an old fortress which experienced a major growth during the Middle
Ages. During the 19th century the city experienced a second period of
substantial growth which was caused by the jute industry. Nowadays the
city of Dundee is known as the City of Discovery. It has joined in
many revolutionary researches. Dundee has two universities.
Dundee has a moderate maritime climate which is strongly influenced by
the Atlantic Gulf Stream. Because of the northern location the climate
can be seen as pleasantly mild. Especially winters are mild with
hardly any subzero temperatures. From October to May fierce winds are
not uncommon. These winds are caused by Atlantic depressions often
attended by heavy rain storms.
